The Vanderbilt Commodores (1-0) face their first FBS foe of the season on Saturday as the Delaware Fightin’ Blue Hens (1-0) visit FirstBank Stadium in Nashville for the first meeting between the programs.

Vanderbilt struggled a bit early last Saturday with FCS Austin Peay before breaking away for a 28-9 victory. The Commodores trailed 6-5 in the first quarter after the Governors scored a touchdown but Vanderbilt returned the blocked extra point for a defensive PAT. Brock Taylor gave Vandy the lead for good with a 37-yard field goal early in the second period. Sedrick Alexander ran for 60 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries while Blaze Berlowitz, in his first collegiate start, was 11-for-16 for 149 yards passing and ran for 44 yards and a touchdown on 11 attempts. Linebacker Josiah Broxton returned a short punt for a 27-yard TD early in the fourth quarter.
Delaware throttled visiting Merrimack from the FCS 42-7 on Sept. 3 and Nick Minicucci threw for 330 yards and two touchdowns and also scored on the ground. Running back Viron Ellison Jr. tossed a 75-yard TD pass to Kaderris Roberts, with both players also scoring rushing touchdowns. The Blue Hen defense picked up three sacks and forced two turnovers while Delaware rolled up a 547-229 edge in total offense.
The Commodores come off the first 10-win season in school history in 2025, finishing 10-3 with a loss to Iowa in the ReliaQuest Bowl, while the Fightin’ Blue Hens went 7-6 in their first season in the FBS and beat Louisiana in the 68 Ventures Bowl to close the campaign.
