The Cardinals enter at 1-0 after opening their season with a 21-14 victory over No. 15 Abilene Christian. Coming off an FCS playoff appearance in 2025, Lamar now gets an opportunity to test itself against an FBS opponent.

Louisiana will make its 2026 season debut after going 6-7 in 2025 and reaching a bowl game for the eighth consecutive season. The Ragin’ Cajuns were picked to finish second in the Sun Belt West this year and return four preseason All-Sun Belt selections. Saturday begins Michael Desormeaux’s fifth season as head coach and opens a challenging nonconference schedule that also includes USC, UAB and Charlotte.
