The college football excitement continues on NBC and Peacock with two matchups. First, at 3:30 PM ET, it's Rice vs No. 3 Notre Dame in the Fighting Irish's 2026 home opener. Then, at 7:30 PM, it's Iowa State vs No. 21 Iowa. See below to find out how to watch both games, as well as additional information on how to watch college football on Peacock.
Rice:
The Rice Owls defeated the Houston Christian Huskies 31-3 at home last Saturday, marking the first time that the Owls have won consecutive season openers since 1989-91.
Sophomore RB Tyvonn Byars led the Owls on the ground, finishing with 104 yards on 16 carries. Redshirt senior RB Quinton Jackson added 61 yards and two rushing touchdowns.
Jackson led the team in all-purpose yards (1,225) last season and was seventh in the American in rushing yards (889).
Notre Dame:
One of Marcus Freeman's goals entering the season is getting the Fighting Irish in the win column earlier, after an 0-2 start last year.
The Fighting Irish took the first step towards that goal with a 41-31 win over the Wisconsin Badgers at Lambeau Field last Sunday.
However, replacing two of their top running backs, Jeremiyah Love and Jadarian Price, who were first-round picks in the 2026 NFL Draft, is still a work in progress.
Notre Dame's run game got off to a slow start early, managing just 29 rushing yards in the first half. But they improved after halftime, totaling 82 rushing yards on 16 attempts in the second half.
Junior QB CJ Carr completed 19-of-29 for 239 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's win. Junior RB Aneyas Williams rushed for 90 yards and two touchdowns.
"I just told the team I’m proud of them, and I know there are a lot of questions asked about the tale of two halves and what changes we made," Freeman said after the game. "And I think the biggest thing was the ability to just let go of what you thought this game was going to be like and focus on the moment."
Notre Dame looks to carry the momentum back home, where the Fighting Irish are 1-3 in home openers.
