The College Football season rolls on with another jam-packed Saturday with two Week 6 matchups on NBC and Peacock. Starting off at 3:30 p.m. ET No. 3 Notre Dame hosts ACC foe Stanford. Next, at 7:30 p.m. ET, Lincoln Riley and the USC Trojans head to a white out game at Penn State. Stanford:
The Cardinal is coming off a 57-3 loss to Wake Forest, the 2nd worst defeat in program history and sit at 2-3. First year head coach Tavita Pritchard looks to get Stanford's first win versus a Top-10 opponent since the Cardinal upset Notre Dame in 2017.
Stanford has not had a winning record in a full season since 2018 with Pritchard now leading the charge after being a long-time assistant from 2010-22 and former Cardinal quarterback from 2006-09.
This matchup is a 100-plus year-old rivalry dating back to 1925 but just the 40th meeting between the two schools. Notre Dame has won the last three games after that aforementioned 2017 upset loss.
Notre Dame:
The Fighting Irish are coming off a 37-26 win over North Carolina and are 5-0 for the first time under Marcus Freeman. Notre Dame has won 15 in a row dating back to last season, all by double digits, and quarterback C.J. Carr has 16 total TDs and one INT this year.
Carr's top target, wide receiver Jordan Faison, had a career game last time out with eight catches for 132 yards and two touchdowns. Faison and Carr have the third-highest completion percentage among active QB-WR duos at 75.5%.
Notre Dame enters a key stretch, with No. 8 BYU and No. 4 Miami on the docket in the next several weeks. Taking care of business against Stanford would keep the momentum heading into two key ranked games.
