MIAMI, Fla. – In less than 12 hours, the No. 3 Miami Hurricanes will kick off against the Florida State Seminoles for the 71st time in the Sunshine State’s rivalry history.
Both programs are powerhouses and multiple National Championship winners, but it’s different this time around. The Seminoles have progressively declined since the 2023 13-1 season; meanwhile, the Hurricanes are on the brink of fully reclaiming former glory.
Here is what’s most important to know before Saturday night’s game:
How to Watch and Time
Television Channel: ESPN
Kickoff Time: 7:00 p.m. E.T.
Betting Odds (Hard Rock Bet)
The Hurricanes are -2000 favorites to win and the Seminoles have a +1000 chance to pull off an upset. The spread is at -20.5 and the over/under is at 50.5.
Injury Report
The following Hurricanes players are ruled out:
Wide receiver Joshua Moore (Upper-Body; Out for Season), running back CharMar “Marty” Brown (Left Leg; Out for Season), cornerback Ja’Boree Antoine (Undisclosed), right guard Max Buchanan (Left Knee), cornerback Romans “OJ” Frederique Jr. (Left Shoulder), and tight end Luka Gilbert (Undisclosed; Out for Season).
Junior cornerback Xavier Lucas is set to return from a four-game absence. Star edge rusher Marquise Lightfoot, linebacker Ezekiel Marcelin Jr., and cornerback Damari Brown were banged up ahead of the bye week, but aren’t listed on the injury report.
The following Seminoles are ruled out:
Running back Samuel Singleton Jr., wide receiver Devin Carter, safety Karson Hobbs, linebacker Blake Nichelson, cornerback Jamari Howard, linebacker Izayia Williams, cornerback Jordan Crutchfield, and linebacker Daylen Green.
Freshman linebacker Noah LaValle was listed as questionable on the initial injury report, but has been officially ruled out. Meanwhile, edge rusher Darryll Desir and center Paul Bowling are probable.
Game Notes
The Seminoles have the second-most rushing attempts in the Atlantic Coast Conference; meanwhile, the Hurricanes have the best run defense in the Football Bowl Subdivision.
Sophomore running back Ousmane Kromah is a great offensive threat. He’s second in the ACC with 565 rushing yards on 100 carries and scored five touchdowns. Kromah is among the nation’s leaders with 38 forced missed tackles. As the Hurricanes’ front seven looks to be at full strength, the 20-year-old will meet with swarmers.
Seminoles' fifth-year quarterback Ashton Daniels will need to dispute all early narratives this season. He has one of the lowest completion percentages (59.5) among ACC starters. The Hurricanes will likely look to force Daniels to throw more while simultaneously stopping the run – a similar game plan against Clemson and freshman quarterback Tait Reynolds.
However, where Daniels lacks in passing, the 22-year-old makes up for on the gound. He leads the ACC with 10 rushing touchdowns. Defensive coordinator Corey Hetherman has a fair amount of experience in facing dual-threat quarterbacks and finding success.
The Hurricanes have the highest-scoring offense (averaging 49.6 points) in FBS; meanwhile, the Seminoles have the 20th worst total defense. It should be a lopsided matchup at Hard Rock Stadium, but rivalrly games can get interesting.
