Aug. 27—A day after landing a prized transfer, Gonzaga lost a veteran commit. And so the Zags' roller-coaster offseason of recruiting continues.

Transfer guard Skylar Wicks, who pledged to Gonzaga's basketball program in June, has decommitted and reopened his recruitment, according to a report from 247Sports.com.

Wicks' decision comes a day after the Zags gained a commitment from transfer guard Xaivian Lee, who started 35 games last season at Florida.

Wicks played last season for Saint Francis, a Division I program in Pennsylvania, averaging 17.8 points, 6.7 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.4 steals per game. He then entered the transfer portal, seeking an additional season of eligibility after his career was disrupted by injuries. The 26-year-old was granted a seventh season earlier this month after the NCAA approved a waiver, clearing the way for Wicks to add experience to a new-look Zags backcourt.

The 6-foot-6 guard's injury-riddled career has spanned five schools and four states. Wicks, a New Jersey native, began his career at Missouri State before stops at State College of Florida, Incarnate Word and Texas-San Antonio. He then had his most productive season last year at Saint Francis.

It was uncertain how Wicks would fit into the Zags' rotation, but his commitment gave the team a potential contributor in the backcourt, which has had a whirlwind offseason, with players coming and going. Point guard Mario Saint-Supery opted to turn pro in Spain rather than returning to GU for his sophomore season. Incoming guard Jack Kayil kept his name in the NBA draft pool. Dayton transfer Javon Bennett committed to GU, but a court ruling has deemed the point guard ineligible for a fifth college season as of now.

Lee is currently eligible after a California judge granted a temporary restraining order against the NCAA, allowing the former Florida and Princeton star to pursue a fifth season of eligibility. GU's backcourt also added Houston transfer Isiah Harwell and the team is still anticipating the arrival of Frenchman Nathan De Sousa, a 23-year-old point guard.
