Iowa walk-off TD hands Michigan epic reality check

Big Ten football has seen absolute chaos through the first four weeks of the college football season. Saturday’s Iowa-Michigan battle at the Big House didn’t disappoint.
Kirk Ferentz and the Iowa Hawkeyes pulled off one of the best comebacks of the season to move to 4-0. However, many college football fans will feel it’s sweet karma for the Wolverines after their controversial Week 1 win over Western Michigan.
Iowa trailed 19-14 with just two seconds remaining in the fourth quarter. That’s when quarterback Hank Brown linked up with Reece Vander Zee after hauling in a second touchdown grab on the day.
Brown’s passing TD was only made possible though after a Wolverines player went down injured with under 10 seconds left in regulation. That sequence allowed Iowa to call a play and perfectly execute it on the road.

Ferentz’s Hawkeyes earn a massive Big Ten win over a quality opponent, but the defeat for Michigan serves as a significant reality check.
The Wolverines arguably shouldn’t have even been 3-0 entering Saturday’s showdown with Iowa. Their Week 1 win over Western Michigan came under odd circumstances when Big Ten officials put one second on the clock after Bryce Underwood’s initial Hail Mary attempt.
Odd circumstances ensued after the game as the MAC filed an appeal with the NCAA in protest of the result. Unfortunately for Broncos, the loss wasn’t overturned and the rest of the season carries on without memory of the end-of-game craziness.
Meanwhile, this weekend’s circumstances weren’t quite the same for Kyle Whittingham and his football team. Michigan drops its first game of the season, whereas the Hawkeyes have another major matchup in Week 5.

Pat McAfee teased a potential visit to Iowa City next week with ESPN’s College GameDay for the first time in nearly two decades. The Hawkeyes face the No. 7 Ohio State Buckeyes fresh off a 42-19 blowout against Illinois in a clash that could have significant Big Ten implications.
