Jay-Z reportedly selected himself for the Feb. 14, 2027 halftime show at SoFi Stadium, but an official announcement has not been made.

Jay-Z could be preparing to take the Super Bowl halftime stage himself in 2027, according to a new report that would place the music mogul at the centre of the show he has helped shape for years. However, the reported selection has not been officially confirmed by the NFL or Roc Nation.

In a report published October 20, Puck’s Dave Brooks said multiple sources indicated that Jay-Z had selected himself to headline the Super Bowl LXI halftime show, scheduled for February 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. The report also named Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber as artists who had been considered for the slot. Representatives for the NFL and Roc Nation did not respond to Puck’s requests for comment.

The possibility would mark a notable moment for Jay-Z, whose company, Roc Nation, entered a partnership with the NFL in 2019 to advise on entertainment selections for major league events and support its social justice initiatives. The partnership was renewed in 2024, according to USA Today.

Although Jay-Z has played a central role in choosing performers, a Super Bowl headline appearance would put him on the field as the featured act rather than behind the scenes. His catalogue includes decades of influential hip-hop releases, from “Reasonable Doubt” to “The Blueprint” and “4:44.”

The report comes during a period of renewed live activity for the rapper. Puck cited strong ticket sales for anniversary performances and recent stadium shows, including appearances in New York, Philadelphia and Paris, as evidence that he remains a major draw for audiences.

Jay-Z’s reported choice would also continue a run of headline performances that have combined music with wider cultural conversation. Bad Bunny’s selection for 2026 and Kendrick Lamar’s 2025 performance drew significant attention beyond football audiences.

If confirmed, a Jay-Z-led show could offer a career-spanning set and potential guest appearances, given his long history of collaborations. For now, however, the report remains an industry claim rather than an official announcement, and fans will have to wait for confirmation from the league or Roc Nation.
