Agree or disagree with ESPN Analytics: Disagree. The computers give the Tide the ninth-best chance in the FBS to reach the CFP, which seems generous for a team that doesn’t know its starting quarterback yet and averaged 3.3 yards per carry last year.

He went on to outline why Kalen DeBoer won’t win a national title at Alabama in his view. Just not the right fit.

“I think at Alabama you can be unique, you can be different,” Finebaum said. “But Kalen DeBoer to me just doesn’t have the right ingredients to win the title there. I think he’s capable of winning it elsewhere. We all saw he cam within a reasonable chance of winning it at Washington. I think he probably could have won one at Michigan. Alabama is different. I’m selling.”

I’m pretty sure what this means is that Finebaum is hedging on his take last week. He doesnt think DeBoer/Bama can win it all. BUT JUST IN CASE he does think DeBoer probably can.

Whatever, man.

Alabama football’s Ryan Coleman-Williams was selected to the 2026 Maxwell Award Watch List, the Maxwell Football Club announced Monday.

Coleman-Williams is among 81 players from around the country named to the preseason list.

It’s just a preseason watch list with 81 other players and ultimately means very little, but Coleman-Williams is still a player with the ability to be in the running for a Maxwell award.

On the other side of the ball, Bray Hubbard is on the watch list for the Lott trophy:

I think Hubbard could actually be a major contender for this one with another good season.

Finally, we are still talking about this new “injunction” (since that legalese is now in all of our vocabularies), the uncertainty it creates, and some national players who may find themselves in crosshairs.

CBS Sports’ Chris Hummer and Matt Zenitz reported the names of more than a dozen FBS players who have already expressed interest in returning under the ruling. For some, the path back is straightforward. For others, roster spots have already been filled, creating difficult decisions for programs less than a month before the season begins.

Of note, there are no Alabama players on the list. Offensive guard Kam Dewberry got some traction on twitter, but he deleted his initial reaction to this injunction – so my guess is that there wasn’t exactly an open roster spot for him. Still, who knows what all is going on behind the scenes right now.
