The streamer and South African singer will broadcast from Disney World more than two years after their original exchange became an internet meme.
Kai Cenat and Tyla are set to reunite on livestream for the first time since their viral 2024 “we’re friends though” exchange. Cenat and Tyla’s livestream is scheduled for Monday, July 27, at 5 p.m. ET, with the pair broadcasting from Disney World.
Cenat announced the reunion in an Instagram post promoting Tyla’s return to his stream and advertising the Disney World broadcast for the same date and time.
Their first shared stream took place in March 2024. During a Truth or Dare-style game, Cenat asked the South African singer whether she would go on a date with him. Tyla smiled and replied, “We’re friends though.”
The exchange quickly spread across TikTok, X and Instagram, where users turned her response into a reaction meme about being politely rejected. The moment remained tied to both stars long after the original broadcast ended.
Cenat has continued growing his audience through marathon broadcasts and livestreams featuring major entertainers. Tyla has also expanded her international career following the success of “Water,” which earned her the inaugural Grammy Award for best African music performance.
TheGrio has previously chronicled Tyla’s rise from Johannesburg to international pop success, including how her music blends pop, R&B and South African amapiano.
The Disney World reunion gives Cenat and Tyla their first shared broadcast in more than two years. Neither announcement explained what they plan to do at the park or confirmed whether they will discuss the friend-zone clip.
The Times of India reported that fans began speculating about the reunion soon after it was announced, with much of the conversation focused on whether the pair would revisit their original exchange.
