Kansas football suffered a 41-24 loss to Utah on Saturday, dropping to 2-3 overall and 0-2 in Big 12 play. Despite several opportunities to make the game competitive, the Jayhawks struggled to slow down Utah's rushing attack and could not capitalize on key fourth-down opportunities in the second half.

Utah opened the game with a drive lasting just over five minutes, finishing with a five-yard touchdown run by Parker. Kansas responded with a three-and-out, and Utah quarterback Dampier later added a 12-yard touchdown to give the Utes a 14-0 advantage.

Kansas finally gained momentum when Santiago recorded a takeaway that gave the Jayhawks possession in the red zone. Quarterback Isaiah Marshall took advantage, connecting with Dylan Edwards for a three-yard touchdown pass early in the second quarter to cut the deficit to 14-7.

However, Utah answered with a six-yard touchdown pass from Dampier to Noah Bennee, extending its lead to 21-7. Kansas' defense kept the game within reach when Leroy Harris recorded a sack on fourth down, stopping a Utah drive that had reached field-goal range. Marshall then rushed for a six-yard touchdown to finish a five-play, 66-yard drive. Kansas added a field goal, entering halftime trailing just 21-17 and set to receive the second-half kickoff.

Jalen Todd also recorded the first interception of his career during the first half. Kansas totaled 154 yards of offense compared with Utah's 210.

The Jayhawks had an opportunity to build on their momentum after halftime but were forced to punt following a penalty wiped away a potential fourth-down conversion. Utah responded with a seven-minute drive capped by a one-yard touchdown run from Johnson. After missing the extra point, the Utes led 27-17.

Marshall kept Kansas in the contest, finding Nik McMillan for a 29-yard touchdown to cap a 75-yard drive and make it 27-24. Utah maintained its three-point advantage entering the fourth quarter before Taulanga scored on a one-yard run to extend the lead to 34-24.

Kansas could not convert on fourth-and-goal, surrendering possession. Utah then delivered the decisive blow when Wayshawn rushed for a 90-yard touchdown, making it 41-24. The Jayhawks failed to convert another fourth-and-goal opportunity later in the game.

Marshall finished 19-of-37 passing for 333 yards and two touchdowns, leading both teams in passing. Cam Pickett led all receivers with 134 receiving yards, while Utah's Johnson rushed for 171 yards. Harris was the only player to record multiple sacks.

Kansas must now regroup quickly as it prepares for its in-state rivalry matchup against Kansas State on Saturday morning. With the Jayhawks still searching for their first Big 12 victory, the upcoming game presents another opportunity to turn the season around.
