Lil Nas X is finding humor in how fans treat him after returning from rehab, joking that even his thirst traps now receive encouragement instead of flirtation, nearly a year after TheGrio reported that the rapper entered inpatient treatment following his 2025 arrest and months after he sought a diversion program in the related criminal case.
“Ever since I got out of rehab, like, everybody’s, like, OD nice to me,” the 27-year-old said in a social media video posted to Instagram. He joked that a simple greeting now gets responses praising his bravery, while a thirst trap might prompt fans to tell him, “Keep fighting, king.”
The playful post follows a more serious update Lil Nas X shared in June. The Grammy winner, whose legal name is Montero Lamar Hill, said he had spent several months in rehab and was back home spending time with family and friends. He also said he was working with a therapist and psychiatrist and was “doing much better.”
Lil Nas X has said he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder after the August 2025 incident that led to his arrest in Los Angeles. Prosecutors charged him with three felony counts of battery with injury on a police officer and one count of resisting an executive officer. He pleaded not guilty.
In April, a Los Angeles judge allowed Hill to enter a two-year mental health diversion program. His four felony charges are set to be dismissed if he complies with treatment requirements and obeys the law during that period.
Lil Nas X’s rehab update also arrived as he celebrated another personal milestone: 10,000 days alive. The “Old Town Road” artist shared a cake marking the occasion and joked about making it to the milestone.
His latest posts suggest the humor that has long defined his public persona remains intact. While fans may now be responding to him with extra caution and encouragement, Lil Nas X appears comfortable joking about that shift as he continues treatment and eases back into public life.
