On Saturday, America turns 250 years old and what better way to celebrate than a three-day weekend, as required in the Declaration of Independence, and playing the finest game our country produced in the last two and a half centuries.
That’s right, it’s time to play Let’s Remember Some Guys. If you’ve somehow never played before, there’s only one simple rule: you just remember some guys.
You can play anywhere and any time of day — at breakfast, during lunch, riding in a car, while enjoying some cold domestics, at a session specifically set up to remember some guys — there are no limitations to the logistics!
However, because this weekend marks a special occasion, we’re going to focus on guys related to 1776, which includes the fellas in Philadelphia and Ole Miss players who wore numbers 17 or 76.
Let’s start with remembering some Declaration of Independence guys.
Thomas Jefferson
Samuel Adams
John Adams*
Benjamin Franklin
George Clymer
Abraham Clark
John Hancock
Benjamin Harrison
Richard Stockton
George Walton
And so on and so on for 46 more names. Bold guys to remember.
*In David McCollough’s biography of him, this was my favorite Adams’ quote: “Thanks to God that he gave me stubbornness when I know I’m right.”
ELECTRIC POSTER OF HIS DAY.
Now let’s remember some guys who wore numbers 17 or 76 for Ole Miss over the years (not on the current roster). I have certainly forgotten many a guy, so feel free to remember some guys in the comments.
