The college football season is a month away, and with that come preseason rankings. Athlon Sports ranked the top 25 running back units for the upcoming season, approaching the rankings not as singular talents but considering depth, talent, production, level of competition, as well as projected out for the upcoming year.
The Florida Gators have an elite running back in Jadan Baugh, but how does the entire unit stack up against the rest?
The Gators landed at No. 7 in the latest running back unit rankings. They ranked fifth among SEC programs, behind Missouri, Georgia, Texas and Ole Miss, respectively.
The running back room is led by Jadan Baugh, a 1,000-yard rusher last season, but the room has talent and depth behind him. Transfers London Montgomery from East Carolina and Evan Pryor from Cincinnati are two backs who produced when given the opportunity last season.
In 2025, Pryor rushed for 522 yards on an average of 6.9 yards per carry and three touchdowns. Montgomery, on the other hand, rushed for 742 yards and seven rushing touchdowns. The Gators also have redshirt freshman Duke Clark on the roster.
All four backs on the Gators' roster should get ample opportunity with the ball, given the Florida quarterback will be a first-year starter.
