Louisville commit Ja’Hyde Brown did not visit Kentucky and is reportedly canceling more trips

Will Stein made the most of Kentucky Football’s monumental upset over LSU by making sure a slew of top-tier high school talent was on hand to witness it firsthand. However, one notable local prospect wasn’t present inside Kroger Field over the weekend.

University of Louisville commit Ja’Hyde Brown did not visit Kentucky on Saturday, and according to Jacob Polacheck of Cardinal Authority, he’s canceling more planned trips, including upcoming stops at Texas and Oklahoma.

Brown, a 5-foot-10, 186-pound wide receiver in the class of 2027, committed to Louisville back in March and appears to be holding strong to that pledge. Kentucky has been working hard to flip the 4-star recruit, but Louisville has managed to hold the Cats to this point. Scouts and anyone who has seen him play agree that Brown has an uncanny knack for making the first defender miss.

Brown caught 98 passes for 1,556 yards and 24 touchdowns in 2025, leading his team to a perfect 15-0 record. That junior season earned him KFCA Class 3A Player of the Year honors.

Brown’s teammate, 2028 5-star defensive standout Kellan Hall, was in attendance for the LSU game last Saturday and remains a top target for Stein and his staff. Recently, Rivals anointed Hall as the No. 1 overall player in the 2028 class.

At this point, securing a commitment from Hall would be about as big as it gets for the Kentucky football program, but it looks like it will be a long shot to get Brown.

A big shoutout to the Christian Academy of Louisville football program for its work developing and retaining top talent in the state.

Will Stein’s ties to Trinity High School and the local football community could pay huge dividends over the next several recruiting cycles. The Kentucky program as a whole will undoubtedly aim to capitalize on the Cats’ on-field success.
