LSU football picked up a commitment from 2027 edge rusher Chris Whitehead, according to Rivals' Hayes Fawcett on Wednesday. He chose the Tigers over South Carolina, Virginia Tech and Ohio State.

Whitehead stands at six-foot-four and 230 pounds. He hails from Chesterfield, VA and gives LSU its second commitment at edge rusher, following four-star K.J. Green out of Stone Mountain, GA.

Rivals' Industry Rankings gives Whitehead a four-star distinction. The outlet ranks him No. 53 overall and No. 8 among defensive ends. He is the consensus No. 1 player out of Virginia across all three major recruiting services.

Whitehead's frame has plenty of room to fill out but possesses the physical traits to make an impact early in his college career. His pledge is one of many for head coach Lane Kiffin and staff in June.

LSU's 2027 class jumped in the rankings as well. Rivals' Industry Rankings put the Tigers at No. 9 nationally and No. 4 in the SEC. They jumped 14 spots in the system since Monday.
