LSU football lands Louisiana's top running back recruit

2027 running back Trey Martin committed to LSU football, according to Rivals' Hayes Fawcett on Wednesday. He is the third ball carrier to choose the Tigers.
Martin, a four-star prospect, joins Tre Segarra and Brennen Lacey in the group of 13 commitments. He picked LSU over SEC rivals Ole Miss and Florida, electing to stay in his home state.
The six-foot, 201-pounder hails from Winnsboro, LA and plays football at Franklin Parish. Martin ranks No. 6 among players from Louisiana in the 2027 class, according to Rivals' Industry Rankings. He is the state's highest-ranked running back.
Rivals' Industry Rankings puts Martin at No. 11 among all running backs and No. 176 nationally. He only visited schools in the SEC, taking trips to Florida, Ole Miss, Alabama, and Tennessee in addition to LSU. He ended the streak of official visits on June 12 in Baton Rouge.

Head coach Lane Kiffin put together a strong month of June thus far. LSU's 2027 class climbed 14 spots in the national rankings since Monday, currently sitting at No. 9. The Tigers are No. 4 in the SEC.
