LSU football flipped a four-star recruit from an SEC rival on Thursday as defensive back Greedy James backed off his Texas pledge and committed to LSU. Per the Rivals Industry Rankings, James is the No. 320-ranked prospect in the class. He's the No. 28-ranked safety and No. 47 player in the state of Texas. 247Sports is the highest on James, ranking him as a top 100 prospect in the class.
James is the 15th commit to join LSU's 2027 class. With James on board, LSU's class ranks No. 11 nationally. Eleven of LSU's 15 commits are blue-chip players.
James is the first safety to commit to LSU this cycle. LSU's secondary class is taking shape with James joining cornerback Markez Davis, but LSU remains in pursuit of several big names.
James, standing at 6-foot-1, has good size for a safety. LSU wants to focus on high school recruits who can contribute as true freshman and James fits that billing.
