LSU football missed on an offensive line target for the 2027 recruiting class. Kal-El Johnson committed to Georgia Tech, according to a report from Rivals' Hayes Fawcett on Thursday.

Johnson chose the Yellow Jackets over a top five that included LSU, Indiana, NC State, and North Carolina. The four-star prospect took official visits to all five between May and June, ultimately deciding to play in the ACC.

A native of Cincinnati, OH, Johnson is entering his senior season at Archbishop Moeller. The offensive tackle stands at six-foot-six and 305 pounds, according to Rivals.

Rivals' Industry Rankings puts Johnson at No. 21 among offensive line recruits in the 2027 cycle. He ranks No. 10 out of Ohio and No. 262 overall.

Despite missing on Johnson, LSU maintains a high ranking in the 2027 class. Rivals' Industry Rankings puts the Tigers at No. 11 overall and No. 5 among SEC teams. The commitments of offensive linemen Amaziah Siale and Terrance Smith helped boost their standing.
