LSU football has carried the recruiting hot streak it built during this year’s transfer portal window into high school recruiting. The Tigers hosted a slew of top recruits this weekend, including one of particular interest: Miguel Whitley, a Louisiana native and a top-50 player nationally.

Whitley, who attends St. Augustine High School in New Orleans, is the No. 46 player and the No. 7 wide receiver in the country, per Rivals’ rankings. He recently narrowed his recruitment down to five schools: Ohio State, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Houston, and LSU.

According to Rivals’ Sam Spiegelman, Lane Kiffin and his staff have made an extremely positive impression on the top recruit.

“It was nice hanging with all the coaches. You know, they are all real cool and make you feel at home already,” Whitley said, “I could see myself going there.”

Although LSU is widely regarded as the program to beat for producing wide receiver talent at the professional level, that production has waned in recent years. If they were able to earn the commitment of a player of Whitley’s caliber, it would be a major step toward the Tigers turning themselves back into the wide receiver factory they’ve been in years past.
