With the LSU football program gearing up for the 2026 season, the team has landed an interesting player who was with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish for the last four years. As head coach Lane Kiffin leads the LSU football team into a new era, there is no denying that many will have opinions on the latest addition.
According to Pete Thamel of ESPN, the latest commitment to the Tigers comes from defensive end Junior Tuihalamaka, as he has just been ruled eligible for a fifth year after a recent court ruling in Louisiana.
“NEWS: Notre Dame transfer defensive end Junior Tuihalamaka has committed to LSU, per his agent Noah Reisenfeld of 21 Sports & Entertainment. Tuihalamaka is eligible for a fifth year of college football from the state court ruling in Louisiana on Thursday,” Thamel wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

News broke on Thursday when a judge in Louisiana granted a year of eligibility to Tuihalamaka and 15 other players in the class of 2022, thanks to a restraining order. With the news, Tuihalamaka entered the transfer portal, which is how it led him to play for the LSU football team.
The Tigers add a player who totaled 60 tackles and four tackles for loss in his career. Tuihalamaka is part of the group of players who have been granted another year of college football eligibility, but he might not be the most famous.
In a drastic turn of events, one of the players who have the ability to return to college football is former Ole Miss tight end Dae’Quan Wright, who entered the transfer portal, though he was already on the Cleveland Browns roster.
