LSU football's first season under head coach Lane Kiffin is drawing nearer. The Tigers open at home against Clemson on September 5, then take on Kiffin's old team in Ole Miss two weeks later. They begin preparations for the schedule this month.

Fall camp opens for LSU on Wednesday, August 5. The team enjoys breaks between spring and summer workout periods before locking in for the full season. Some players crucial to the team's success dealt with injuries in the offseason but are reported to be ready for fall camp.

Those players include quarterback Sam Leavitt, the transfer portal's top player, and linebacker Whit Weeks. Both suffered injuries midway through the 2025 season that forced them to the sidelines for the remainder of their schedules and much of the spring. But all signs are pointing towards healthy returns for fall camp.

LSU added 59 new players to its roster between transfers and the freshmen class. Kiffin signed the top transfer class in the nation along with the No. 12 overall class in the 2026 high school cycle.
