The Notre Dame football team picked up an important victory over Wisconsin in recent days. The Fighting Irish won the game 41-13. Notre Dame sustained quite a few injuries in the game. Fighting Irish head coach Marcus Freeman credited Wisconsin on their physical toughness.
“It was like a boxing match. It was literally bloody. Physical game we have to recover from,” Freeman said about the clash, per USA Today network.
The Fighting Irish had their most success through the air against the Badgers. Notre Dame finished the contest with 239 passing yards. The team also forced two turnovers.

Freeman isn’t kidding about this being a brutal game. The Notre Dame team has a long list of injuries right now.
“Marcus Freeman said Tae Johnson and Jason Onye are out for multiple weeks, both expected back at some point this season,” The Athletic reported on X.
Notre Dame is hoping to get another key player back for their next contest. The Fighting Irish next play Rice on Saturday.
“Marcus Freeman said Kyngstonn Viliamu-Asa “is trending in a way that we expect him to be out there on Saturday” against Rice. Viliamu-Asa was questionable last week but ruled out for Wisconsin as game time approached,” The Athletic added.
The star for Notre Dame against Wisconsin is quarterback CJ Carr. Carr, who is entering the 2026 season with a lot of hype, finished the contest with two touchdown passes. He also protected the football against the Badgers, finishing the game with no interceptions.
The Fighting Irish are on a mission this season to make the College Football Playoff, after missing out in 2025. Notre Dame football had reached the CFP in 2024. That season, Freeman led the Fighting Irish to the national championship game.
