Malachi Breland is the first former Memphis player to join Ryan Silverfield with Arkansas football.

Breland committed to the Razorbacks out of the transfer portal on Sunday, Jan. 4, according to a report from CBS Sports. The 6-foot-5, 340-pound guard is rated as the No. 21 interior offensive lineman and the No. 399 player overall, according to the 247Sports Composite.

Breland was a three-star recruit out of Laurel High School (Miss.) in the class of 2023. He was a redshirt sophomore in 2025.

Breland should compete for a starting spot with the Razorbacks, who will return center Caden Kitler and Kobe Branham in 2026. Left guard Fernando Carmona is out of eligibility.

Breland helped Memphis average 183.23 rushing yards per game, which ranked 31st in the country. He will get to play for Silverfield, offensive coordinator Tim Cramsey and offensive line coach Jeff Myers, who were all with Breland in Memphis.

Breland was the third fourth commit for Arkansas. The Hogs also landed Cincinnati safety Christian Harrison, Georgia State kicker Braeden McAllister and Sacramento State long snapper Adam Johnston on Sunday.
