Miami (FL) football is delivering the most aggressive College Football Recruiting tactics for May. The Hurricanes flipped former Georgia five-star cornerback commit Donte Wright and grabbed four-star offensive lineman Jatori Williams Thursday. But Williams isn’t the only new commit, with Miami beating out Ohio State and Georgia for four-star linebacker AJ Randle.
The Garner High of North Carolina standout revealed his decision via Hayes Fawcett of On3/Rivals. He’ll hand the National Championship Game runner-up a rangy 6-foot-3 ‘backer and the nation’s No. 5 LB per the outlet.
Randle placed the Buckeyes, Bulldogs and one more SEC representative in South Carolina for Miami. Defensive coordinator Corey Hetherman ran point on recruiting the athletic standout who earned strong praise from Charles Power of On3.
“Toolsy defender who is one of the more physically-gifted linebacker prospects in the 2027 cycle,” was how Power described Randle.
Hetherman gains a needed sideline-to-sideline defender here in winning over Randle. The now second-year defensive coordinator could have his next Wesley Bissainthe on his hands.
Randle adds to an impressive recruiting blitz going on in Coral Gables. Head coach Mario Cristobal and his staff kicked off May with nabbing four-star running back Ty Keys from Poplarville, Mississippi. Houston talent and fellow four-star Ezekiel Ayangbile then chose the Canes on May 8.
But Miami’s biggest recruiting wins came on flip attempts. Wright dipped from the Bulldogs on May 10 in a huge decommit. The Hurricanes weren’t through boosting the secondary, though. Former Oregon commit Ai’King Hall chose Miami Sunday to load up the defensive backfield.
