The Miami Hurricanes rolled into Clemson, South Carolina and came away with a decisive victory over the Tigers 41-13. It was a game that Miami lead quickly and throughout, going up 7-0 on a 61-yard Cooper Barkate catch and run touchdown two minutes into the game. Miami built a 17-3 lead in the second quarter, and despite a couple of second and third quarter pushes from Clemson, it was a double-digit margin the rest of the game and the issue was never really in doubt.

An impressive performance for sure, albeit one that leaves Miami even more as a group of walking wounded going into a desperately needed bye week.

So where do the Canes head into said bye at in the polls? Right where they were last week, at No. 4 in both polls.

Notre Dame remained at No. 3 and ahead of Miami despite some struggles on the road in Chapel Hill against the North Carolina Tar Heels, winning 37-26. The Tar Heels had the game at 21-20 in the third quarter, but the Irish managed to keep ahead and regain control. Both teams have work to do, with the Irish going to BYU on 10/17, but both appear to still be on a top five collision course on Nov. 7.

Ohio State, Alabama, and Indiana, all in varying orders, are behind the Hurricanes in both polls, with BYU at No. 8 in both.

The Crimson Tide could find themselves moving ahead of the Hurricanes next Saturday if they can take advantage of a massive opportunity on Saturday at Georgia.

But yeah, we’re in October. A lot of football left to play to sort itself out. Just gotta enjoy the ride every week.

Go Canes!
