Michigan finally got into the win column this past weekend, defeating Penn State 21-18. Now, Michigan turns its focus to Indiana, whom they face this weekend.
While preparing for the game against Indiana, they just got good news on the college football recruiting trail, flipping a wide receiver for the class of 2027, per Hayes Fawcett of On3.
“Class of 2027 WR Yuto Kawamura-Johnson has Flipped his Commitment from Toledo to Michigan, he tells me for Rivals. He had been Committed to the Rockets since June,” Fawcett posted on X, formerly Twitter.

Kawamura-Johnson took a trip to Ann Arbor over the weekend. The Florida native committed to the Toledo Rockets in June, but after his impressive senior season, other teams became interested. He spoke of the opprotunity to play for Michigan, according to Von Lozon of Maize N Brew.
“I’m really excited about the opportunity,” Kawamura-Johnson said after his visit. “Being able to play for Coach Whittingham and be a part of a program like Michigan is something special. I feel like it’s a great place to develop and compete at a high level. I’m grateful for the opportunity and excited to see what the future holds!”
Michigan currently has the 11th-ranked recruiting class for the class of 2027 and third in the Big Ten. Kawamura-Johnson is the lowest-ranked recruit in the 22-player class. He is currently the 2,243rd-ranked player in the nation and 300th at his position. The class is led by Jakari Lipsey, a four-star offensive tackle. They also have Quentin Burrell, a four-star wide receiver and the 19th-best receiver in the class.
