Ohio State tends to get the players it wants out of the state of Ohio, but more and more, lately, that hasn't been the case.
A couple of cycles ago, Michigan football managed to woo away former Cincinnati (Ohio) Moeller four-star running back Jordan Marshall out of the Buckeye State. This cycle, the Wolverines stole away fellow Cincinnati native, four-star cornerback Monsanna Torbert. Now, the maize and blue are working toward landing an elite prospect from the four-letter state, but this one might be more likely to lean toward wearing a winged helmet than a gray one.
2028 Warren (Ohio) Harding four-star edge rusher Asa Burch is the son of former Michigan football wide receiver and defensive back Alfie Burch, who played for the Wolverines in the early 1990s. OSU has made a strong push for the Michigan legacy, alongside Penn State, but it appears that Burch is trending maize and blue, with predictions put in by Rivals' Allen Trieu and The Wolverine's Ethan McDowell on Wednesday night.
Burch is rated highest by Rivals, which has him as the No. 125 player in the country as well as the No. 12 edge rusher nationally. At 6-foot-5, 220 pounds, he still needs to add some size to his frame, but he's getting well-deserved attention for having showcased a bit of his athleticism before even suiting up for his junior year of high school.
He also has offers from Indiana, Kentucky, Oregon, Tennessee, Notre Dame, and others.
