Michigan plummets in US LBM Coaches Poll after ugly Week 1 win

They play games for a reason; otherwise, the preseason rankings would determine the eventual outcome for all of college football. And for Michigan football, perhaps it wishes it hadn't played a game.
The Wolverines took the field and nearly lost (and probably should have lost) to Western Michigan on Saturday. It took two Hail Mary attempts to finish off the Broncos, with a whole bunch of national controversy being attracted to the program like a moth to a flame. Thus, the 13-12 win over WMU didn't exactly inspire a lot of confidence in the coaches across the sport.
In the latest US LBM Coaches Poll, Michigan had opened up the season ranked No. 16, but after Saturday, it fell to No. 24. Ohio State is still ranked No. 1, Oregon fell from second to No. 6, Indiana rose from sixth to fifth, Oklahoma fell a spot to No. 10, Penn State rose to No. 16, and Iowa also rose a spot to No. 21. Western Michigan and future opponents, Minnesota and UCLA, received votes.
