In some interesting news on Thursday, it was reported by Emmett Matasovsky of Spartan Shadows that Michigan State football senior wide receiver Jameer Gardner Jr. has retired from the sport and is no longer on MSU's roster. Gardner had transferred to the Spartans this past year from Jackson State.
Gardner is a Detroit native who went to Cass Tech before enrolling at Kent State, where he caught 24 passes for 298 yards and a touchdown. Last year with Jackson State, he got 32 passes for 483 yards and two touchdowns in his best season as a college athlete.
Gardner didn't play in any games for the Spartans this season although was seen in warmups for the Spartans before the loss to Nebraska.
