Mike Leach had an impactful 21-year career as a college football coach at three notable programs. The former Texas Tech, Washington State and Mississippi State head man had previously been boxed out of College Football Hall of Fame eligibility, but is now in the running posthumously.
Leach is on the ballot for the College Football Hall of Fame for the first time after the rules were tweaked by the National Football Foundation, which oversees the HOF. Coaches with a winning percentage above .595 are now eligible; the previous cutoff was .600.
Leach finished with a career 158-107 record, good for a .596 winning percentage.
