The official cover for the highly anticipated EA Sports College Football 27 video game was released on Tuesday morning, and it features three of the most prominent athletes in the nation going into the new season.

Oregon Ducks quarterback Dante Moore, Miami Hurricanes wide receiver Malachi Toney, and Ole Miss Rebels running back Kewan Lacy are all featured on the cover, donning their home apparel and looking down at the camera. Earlier this week, it was confirmed that these three players would be the cover athletes, but as for the cover itself, we had to wait until Tuesday.

It's unsurprising that these are the athletes who were chosen to grace the cover, with all three in the mix for a potential deep run in the College Football Playoff, and a likely spot in the Heisman Trophy race this fall.

This is the second cover of the video game that has been released over the past week, with the deluxe cover coming out a few days ago, featuring defending national championship head coach Curt Cignetti front and center. The deluxe cover is far more extravagant, featuring the likes of Moore and Toney, as well as Texas edge rusher Colin Simmons, USC quarterback Jayden Maiava, and Notre Dame cornerback Leonard Moore.

EA SPORTS Opening Drive is set for June 4, and gameplay access for College Football 27 begins on July 2, 2026 for MVP+ Membership subscribers.

While there is a known "Madden Curse" with players who are on the cover of the NFL-centric video game, it's been a bit of a mixed bag for the college football version. Last year, Ohio State Buckeyes' star Jeremiah Smith had a great season after being on the cover, while Alabama Crimson Tide WR Ryan Coleman-Williams struggled to replicate his freshman success. The year before that, cover-athlete Travis Hunter went on to win the Heisman Trophy, but fellow stars Quinn Ewers and Donovan Edwards struggled to have elite seasons.

We will see what another year of data provides on this front.
