With the stroke of a pen on National Signing Day, seven student-athletes from Legacy High School and six from Midland High School officially committed to continue their academic and athletic careers at the collegiate level. This final district-wide signing day of the year recognized student-athletes from several sports.
Families, teammates, coaches, and campus leaders honored the hard work, discipline, and achievements that brought each athlete to this milestone.
“I am very proud of all of our signees,” Executive Director of Athletics Wes Torres said in a news release. “Watching our student-athletes sign to compete at the collegiate level validates the years of discipline and grit poured into our programs.”
Student-athletes also reflected on the significance of the day. Keondre Garnett, Midland Senior High School who will attend Mary Hardin-Baylor, said the opportunity means everything to him and represents his dedication not only to his sport but also to academics.
Many of the signees expressed gratitude for the support of their parents, coaches, and teammates, crediting them for the guidance, encouragement, and sacrifices that made this achievement possible.
National Signing Day represents years of commitment, both on the field and in the classroom. Midland ISD congratulates each student-athlete and their families as they prepare for the next chapter of their academic and athletic journeys.
