The Nebraska football team is getting some big pickups on the recruiting trail. Nebraska was able to flip a commitment on Sunday, per Rivals. Class of 2027 EDGE Ma’atoe Moe flipped from Minnesota to the Cornhuskers.
“The 6’4 240 EDGE had been committed to the Golden Gophers since May 31,” Hayes Fawcett posted to X, formerly Twitter.
Moe also had offers from BYU, Fresno State and Washington State. He plays his high school football in Utah.
Nebraska head coach Matt Rhule then got even more good news on Sunday. His Cornhuskers program picked up a commitment from another Class of 2027 recruit, per Rivals. Tight end Olafemi “Joey” Hunter committed to Nebraska over Pitt, Syracuse and North Carolina State.
“When I left Lincoln, I felt confident in my decision,” Hunter said.
Hunter had also visited several other schools, including West Virginia. He plays his high school football in Georgia. Three other players from his high school have already committed to Nebraska.
“I know every tight end says it, but I feel like I can really do it all,” Hunter said. “I can block, I can be in the box and I can run routes, I want to be able to do it all at the next level too,” Hunter said, per On3.
Rhule is about to enter his fourth season at Nebraska. He has posted back-to-back seven win seasons with the team. Nebraska fans expect Rhule to compete for Big Ten championships, following the team’s historic success in years past.
The 2026 campaign is a pivotal season for Rhule. Rhule has struggled to win Big Ten games since he has coached at Nebraska. He is just 10-17 in the conference over three seasons.
The Cornhuskers kick off the 2026 football season on September 5. Nebraska takes on Ohio.
