Nebraska quarterback Anthony Colandrea was honored Monday following his performance against Maryland. Colandrea was named a member of the Davey O'Brien Great 8 and is now added to the O’Brien Award Midseason Watch List.
The O’Brien Award recognizes the nation's most outstanding quarterback. Many notable quarterbacks received the award over the years, including Fernando Mendoza, Joe Burrow, Eric Crouch, and Peyton Manning. Now, Colandrea is one of a slew of quarterbacks to be added to the watch list.
Colandrea totaled nearly 350 yards and three touchdowns for the Huskers in their win over Maryland. He threw 26-of-39 passes for 238 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for a career-high 108 yards on 10 carries. This is Colandrea's third three-touchdown game and his first hundred-rushing-yard game of the season.
On the season, Colandrea is 94-of-143 for 1,142 yards and 13 touchdowns. His 13 touchdowns rank him ninth nationally in passing touchdowns. He's also 18th in the FBS in rushing yards among quarterbacks. Nebraska's offense, under Colandrea, is ninth nationally in scoring offense, averaging 43.2 points per game.
