New court filings shed light on Tay Keith’s estate after his death at 29

The paperwork reportedly shows the producer left no will, with his assets now set to be managed through the estate administration process.
Tay Keith left behind a music catalog, luxury vehicles, business interests and other valuable property when he died at 29, but court filings reportedly show the Grammy-nominated producer did not have a will. The Grammy-nominated producer was found dead at 29, and a family tribute remembered him as a cultural force whose work shaped a generation.
A family member was appointed administrator of the estate, TMZ reported, citing court documents. The listed property includes bank and money market accounts, a Mercedes-Maybach, a Lamborghini and a 50% interest in a Memphis home.
The filings also identify Keith’s interests in Shadow Tequila, half of an engineering studio, music publishing rights, his music catalog, trademarks and royalties. The administrator said she plans to work with his record label and publishing companies to ensure future payments are directed to the estate.
Keith, whose legal name was Brytavious Lakeith Chambers, was not married and had no children when he died, according to the paperwork. Because he left no will, the producer’s assets will be handled through the estate administration process rather than under written instructions from him.
Police found Keith dead in his Nashville apartment on June 18 after his girlfriend requested a welfare check. She told emergency dispatchers that he had called and asked her to come over but later stopped responding. She also said he had experienced high blood pressure and breathing problems.
Authorities said foul play was not suspected. His cause of death had not been released when TMZ published its July 28 report.
The Memphis-born producer became one of hip-hop’s most recognizable hitmakers through collaborations with Drake, Travis Scott, Sexyy Red, Beyoncé, Cardi B and other major artists. His work included Travis Scott and Drake’s “Sicko Mode,” which earned him a Grammy nomination.
