Notre Dame football is already 2-0 on the season with wins over Wisconsin and Rice. Notre Dame entered the season with National Championship expectations, especially with a weak schedule ahead of them in 2026.

While the Irish have been ripped for the seemingly weak schedule, they are already scheduling power conference teams for the future. Notre Dame and Nebraska have agreed to a two-game series, according to a release from the university.

The first game is scheduled for October 30, 2032, and will be played in Lincoln, Nebraska. The Cornhuskers will head to South Bend, Indiana on October 29, 2033.

Notre Dame already has multiple power conference opponents scheduled for the future. This includes a series with Virginia Tech beginning in 2027, and one with Texas starting in 2028. Series with Alabama and Florida State both begin in 2029, while a USC series starts in 2030 and one with Michigan in 2033.

Meanwhile, Nebraska does not have a non-conference power conference opponent scheduled until 2028, when they face Arizona. The Cornhuskers will also face Arizona in 2031, while squaring off with Oklahoma in 2029 and 2030.

Nebraska leads the all-time series with Notre Dame with eight wins to seven, plus one tie. The last time the two teams faced was in 2001, when Nebraska defeated Notre Dame at home, 27-10. Nebraska also won in South Bend in 2000, winning 27-24. Prior to the home-and-home series in the early 2000’s, the most recent meeting between the two was in 1973 at the Orange Bowl. The two also played every year from 1915 through 1925.

Notre Dame has a power conference opponent this upcoming week, hosting Michigan State.
