Notre Dame, Nebraska announce home-and-home series for 2032, 2033 seasons

On Wednesday, Sept. 16, Notre Dame football and Nebraska football unveiled a home-and-home series to be played in the 2032 and 2033 seasons.

This will be the first game between the two teams since the home-and-home series from 2000 and 2001, marking a 32-year gap between meetings. The Cornhuskers lead the all-time series with an 8-7-1 record and have won the last three against the Fighting Irish dating back to 1972, but history may not be predictive of the future.

Far removed from Big Red's glory days with Frank Osborne at the helm, Nebraska hasn't appeared in a New Year's Six bowl game since their 2006 Cotton Bowl loss. Notre Dame has been the far more successful program as of late, with eight New Year's Six bowl appearances, wins in the Cotton and Orange Bowls, and a pair of National Championship game appearances. The difference becomes stark looking at the last 10 years: Nebraska has a losing record of 57-75 while Notre Dame has compiled a 111-32 record.

Also on Notre Dame's future schedule are games three and four of a renewed rivalry series with USC in 2032 and 2033 in addition to Florida, Florida State, and Miami in 2032 and Michigan and Duke in 2033. Nebraska, meanwhile, has booked their first non-conference matchup for 2032 and now has a second for 2033 alongside Cincinnati.
