Notre Dame football continues to load up its' future recruiting classes with dynamic players.
Darieon Prescott, a 6-foot, 4-inch and 260-pound elite edge out of Bolingbrook, IL announced that he was committing to the Irish on Monday, choosing Notre Dame over Oregon and Texas A&M. Prescott is a five-star who is ranked as the top player in the state of Illinois as well as the No. 18 overall in the 2028 class per 247Sports Composite.
Prescott got onto the national radar as a freshman when he was named to the MaxPreps Freshman All-American team, and high-end scholarship offers followed shortly after. Prescott plays with a quick first step and has shown an ability to chase down plays from the backside. He was a multi-sport athlete who also competed in track and field. He posted a 7.13 in the 55-meter dash and 25.23 in the 200-meter dash as a 9th grader. He still has time to refine some of his weaknesses and improve his consistency.
Notre Dame has pursued Prescott thoroughly and had him visit campus multiple times. While Oregon and Texas A&M were deemed threats, it appears the proximity of Notre Dame to home gave head coach Marcus Freeman the edge.
There is a lot of positive recruiting momentum happening for the Irish right now. They currently sit at No. 4 overall class in 2028.
