Notre Dame offers 2028 QB as confidence for top target dwindles

Notre Dame football is looking for a top quarterback in the 2028 class, and one of them, Neimann Lawrence is set to commit at the end of the month.
Unfortunately, it does not look all that good for the Irish, as a new offer has signaled their confidence in landing the 4-star Floridian. On Thursday, one of the top recruiting insiders, On3’s Steve Wiltfong put in a prediction for Lawrence to land at Texas. While they are occasionally wrong, this isn’t a great sign.
Interestingly enough, Notre Dame isn’t going to be put in a bad position if they aren’t chosen, as it offered New Jersey quarterback Trey Tagliaferri on Wednesday.
The 6-foot, 1-inch and 190-pounder preps at a familiar high school to the Irish, Bergen Catholic, where former quarterback Steve Angeli, and transfer wide receiver Quincy Porter played. Tagliaferri isn’t quite at the same level of prospect as Lawrence, but he’s still pretty good in his own right. He’s currently ranked as the No. 203 overall prospect in the 247Sports Composite, and has over 30 offers with teams like Alabama, Florida, Georgia and Ohio State after him.
With Notre Dame connections to Bergen Catholic, there could be yet another Crusader that ends up in the Blue and Gold.
Blessed to receive an offer from Notre Dame. @Marcus_Freeman1@GinoGuidugli@NDFootball@bccoachvito@BergenCathFBall@Tonyrazz03@samspiegs@ChadSimmons_@BillyEmbody@TomLoy247@DemetricDWarrenpic.twitter.com/4dvegogP03
