Notre Dame Fighting Irish quarterback CJ Carr has been named to the Manning Award watch list.

Created by the Allstate Sugar Bowl before the 2024 season, the award, named after the Manning family of quarterbacks, goes to the best college quarterback of the season, as judged by the Sugar Bowl committee. It includes postseason play, so it isn't decided on and presented until after the College Football Playoff concludes.

Others on the list include Ohio State's Julian Sayin, Ole Miss's Trinidad Chambliss and Texas' Arch Manning. Manning, of course, is the grandson of NFL quarterback Archie Manning and nephew of former NFL stars Peyton and Eli Manning.

"We're excited to kick off another college football season and recognize this outstanding group of quarterbacks on the Manning Award Watch List," Archie Manning said in a press release. "Every year, players emerge throughout the season, and that's one of the things that make this award special. We look forward to watching these quarterbacks compete, especially when the stakes are highest in conference championships, bowl games and the College Football Playoff, because the Manning Award honors the best quarterback over the entire season."

There are 40 quarterbacks on the list in total. Indiana's Fernando Mendoza won the award for the 2025-2026 season.
