Notre Dame slides back a bit in both the AP Top 25 and the Coaches Poll

Notre Dame went into the BYU game ranked as the No. 2 team in the nation in both polls. Just as the game itself ended with two very different storylines for Notre Dame, the polls have split now with two very different takes on the Irish.

The Coaches Poll is full of SID’s voting for the interest of theor own school and conference, and the AP Top 25 allows for a more nuanced approach (which can be good or bad on any given week). So, after Notre Dame’s certified loss (with an apology by the Big 12) the Irish are now ranked No. 4 in thge AP Top 25 and No. 8 in the Coaches Poll.

Regardless of the poll, however, one thing that is very true… the Miami Hurricanes are No. 1 and will be in South Bend on November 7 to face Notre Dame. On the Tuesday before that game, we get our first set of college football playoff rankings, which will set the tone for the rest of the season.
