The Ohio State Buckeyes are in on a key four-star wide receiver prospect who is now expected to commit to a Big 12 program.

Ohio State wrapped up its last big recruiting weekend of the summer before the dead period just a couple of days ago with some key visitors in town.

There hasn’t been a whole lot of action on the commitment front for the Buckeyes from official visit season. Ohio State picked up two cornerback commitments from Deontay Malone and Jaden Carey this month, but there’s plenty of work still to be done.

A recent official visitor was four-star WR Blake Wong, who is considering schools like BYU and Oregon, along with the Buckeyes. Wong will make his college decision this coming weekend.

“It went really well,” Wong said of his Ohio State visit, via Rivals. “Just love the tradition there and the culture there.

“Their message to me is that they can bring the best out of me. It’s known as Wide Receiver U. and going through their plans for me, just getting the best out of me and going out and competing, that’s been the main thing – becoming the best version of me as a football player.”

Blake Wong is predicted to commit elsewhere over Ohio State

Rivals Industry rankings have Wong listed as the No. 265 player and No. 38 wide receiver in the country for 2027. A trio of predictions from Rivals’ Brandon Huffman, Adam Gorney, and Greg Biggins all came in Monday night for Wong to commit to BYU. Ohio State doesn’t recruit against BYU all that often, but it appears to be trending toward them missing out on the 6-foot wideout to the Cougars.

Ohio State has five-star WR Jamier Brown committed in the class, but will still need to add a couple more players. Wong was one option to fill a spot for the Buckeyes, but the current trend shows they’ll need to look elsewhere.
