Ohio State Buckeyes unveil new alternate uniforms for 2026 season

When it comes to tradition, there are few programs in college football that do it better than the Ohio State Buckeyes. From the stripes to the helmet stickers, the scarlet to the silver, what happens in Columbus is about as time-honored as you can get.

That doesn't mean they can't lean into change every now and again, though.

Over the years, we have seen Ohio State break out all-black alternate uniforms to great success, and they will do it once again in 2026, debuting a new version of the all-black look with a few new details. On Monday afternoon, the Buckeyes unveiled the "Tunnel Vision" uniforms, fit with black helmets, black tops, black pants, and black cleats.

โ€œOhio State football is bringing back its innovative Tunnel Vision (all-black) uniforms for the 2026 season and beyond, featuring key updates that honor program traditions including the evolved Buckeye Stripe on the sleeves,โ€ an Ohio State statement said via Lettermen Row. โ€œOriginally introduced in 2015 and last worn in 2022, this fan-favorite alternate now includes a silver flake finish on the black helmet for a bolder look while matching the signature silver aesthetic.โ€

It is not yet clear which game the Buckeyes will wear their new uniforms for, but it's safe to assume that it will take place at home, and likely in one of the biggest games of the season. Looking at the Ohio State schedule, that means we will likely see these alternates on either of the following dates:

Seeing that the Ducks have done a lot to transform the uniform game over the last couple of decades, it's not hard to see a world where the Buckeyes choose to use that as an opportunity to step their game up and bring something to the party.

Of course, Ohio State could also easily wear these for the Michigan game at the end of the year, as well.
