What time is Michigan football vs Oklahoma? Kickoff, TV channel set

The first big Michigan football game of 2026 will be on the big stage.

Michigan will play Oklahoma on Saturday, Sept. 12, at noon on Fox, the program announced. It marks a change from last season, when the two teams met under the lights in Norman, Oklahoma.

The Sooners won that matchup, 24-13, a key win as they advanced to the College Football Playoff. The loss proved to be a big one for the Wolverines, who missed out on the CFP and saw their season end with a loss to Texas in the Citrus Bowl on Dec. 31.

Michigan Wolverines quarterback Bryce Underwood (19) passes downfield against the Oklahoma Sooners during the first half at Gaylord Family-Oklahoma Memorial Stadium in Norman, Oklahoma, on Saturday, Sept. 6, 2025.

The matchup last season marked the first game against high-level competition for freshman quarterback Bryce Underwood in his debut season with U-M. Underwood completed 37.5% of his passes for 142 yards with one interception, while his three rushes resulted in a loss of 1 yard.

His best play came in the third quarter, when he unleashed a 44-yard heave to Donaven McCulley to get deep into Oklahoma territory. The drive ultimately ended in a field goal to get Michigan within one score, 21-13.

The Sooners return several key contributors from last season; the biggest is quarterback John Mateer. The best player on the field in 2025, the former Washington State transfer gave the Wolverines problems through the air, completing 61.8% of his passes for 270 yards with one touchdown and one interception, and on the ground, running for 74 yards and two touchdowns.

This time around, there are a few key names having flipped sides. Standout linebacker Cole Sullivan transferred to Oklahoma after the hiring of U-M coach Kyle Whittingham. The Wolverines added an ex-Sooner, too, grabbing the top 2024 running back prospect Taylor Taum from the portal, though Taym has since moved to the secondary.
