The Buckeyes have landed some good news going into the weekend. An important recruiting development for Ohio State ahead of Saturday’s spring game.
The Ohio State football team will be in action on Saturday with the annual spring game. Not only will it be a look at what the 2026 team will look like, but it’ll also be a key recruiting day for the Buckeyes.
Ahead of tomorrow’s spring game, the Buckeyes football program already has some good recruiting news to start the weekend.
Ohio State lands key offensive line commitment
The Buckeyes have landed commitment No. 10 in the class of 2027, as well as their fourth offensive lineman overall. Ohio State has recorded a commitment from four-star Central Catholic (PA) OT Jimmy Kalis. The Buckeyes beat out Georgia, Texas, LSU, Miami, and Clemson to land the talented offensive lineman from the Pittsburgh area.
Kalis recently visited Ohio State and is expected to again be in town for the spring game. When Kalis arrives on campus, he’ll be a Buckeye already and that’s good news for Ohio State offensive line coach Tyler Bowen and the Buckeyes.
According to 247 Sports, Kalis is the No. 24 offensive tackle and No. 197 player overall in the class of 2026. Kalis stands 6-foot-6 and currently weighs 280 pounds.
Ohio State now has four offensive tackles committed, at least according to their player profiles across multiple recruiting services. Kellen Wymer and Mason Wilt are in-state commitments for the Buckeyes, while Brody McNeel is a three-star commitment from Virginia. It’s important to note Ohio State typically cross trains their offensive line players, and multiple of these recruits will end up playing some guard.
Kalis has an older sibling attending Ohio State already, so the connection is there with some familiarity around campus. Ohio State had Kalis as one of its top offensive line targets, so it’s an important development to receive a commitment.
There’s one weekend spring game commitment for the Buckeyes and it’s possible it won’t be the last.
