The Ohio State Buckeyes brought in a decent sized transfer portal class with multiple members expected to be key contributors. One player may have flew under the radar, but ESPN is still naming him as a top Big Ten transfer addition.

The Ohio State Buckeyes saw some major roster changes happen this offseason and it resulted in them bringing in 18 players from the transfer portal.

Ohio State watched north of 30 players leave the program in the portal, though the majority of them were not key players, and the Buckeyes lost no projected starters.

From wide receiver, to defensive line, to the secondary, and even special teams – the Buckeyes made additions. One former ACC standout is catching some attention ahead of fall camp, and for good reason.

ESPN labeled ACC transfer as favorite Ohio State addition from the transfer portal

Bill Connelly of ESPN recently released a list of his favorite transfers into the Big Ten. Ohio State S Terry Moore was Ohio State's addition from the portal that Connelly picked as his favorite. For good reason, the Buckeyes got a player who has flashed star potential in the past, but missed all of 2025 due to an injury.

"Day had some gaps to fill in the secondary and did a lovely job in grabbing Moore from Duke," Connelly wrote. "He tore his ACL last season but was one of the best defenders in the ACC in 2024, racking up six TFLs, four interceptions, and five breakups."

Moore made 71 tackles, seven tackles for loss, four interceptions, two forced fumbles, and averaged 20.8 yards on interception returns in 2024 for the Blue Devils in 13 games. Moore started his career as a running back for Duke in 2022 when he had 128 rushing yards in eight games. Moore made the switch to safety in 2023 and had 43 tackles and 3.5 sacks for Duke.

Ohio State lost Caleb Downs from the back end of its defense and will need to replace the production he brought. Jaylen McClain will step into a bigger role at safety for the Buckeyes and Moore is the leader in the clubhouse to fill in alongside him. Ohio State will bring multiple safety looks in 2026 with Florida State transfer Earl Little Jr. and Leroy Roker also seeing time.

The jump from the ACC to the Big Ten is substantial, but Moore has the talent and physicality at 6-foot, 200 pounds to make a difference in Matt Patricia's defense.
