The Ohio State Buckeyes have a tricky game on tap against Illinois for Week 4 and are monitoring injuries to several players including Zion Grady and Phillip Daniels, who got “questionable” reports recently. The two Buckeyes linemen originally received a short term injury prognosis from coach Ryan Day after the Texas game that has changed as the injuries have lingered longer than expected.
Another update was just released, and it was bad news for both players as their new status for the Illinois matchup was given by On3’s Pete Nakos.
“Ohio State offensive tackle Phillip Daniels and EDGE Zion Grady are questionable for Saturday against Illinois,” Nakos said. “WR Kyle Park is also questionable.”

The Buckeyes’ offense will be challenged with Julian Sayin seeking to live up to coach Ryan Day’s new expectations. The Buckeyes are a big favorite, but the Fighting Illini are coming off of back-to-back winning seasons that each included bowl wins over big name SEC opponents.
Coach Day’s team has the depth and talent to withstand the potential losses of both linemen, but Illinois will bring an explosive offense into Columbus that will require defensive coordinator Matt Patricia’s full attention. Offensively, Daniels is an important piece to a running game that is improving and a passing game that thrives whenever Sayin has a relatively clean pocket to throw from downfield.
Most media personalities don’t think an upset is going to happen, but the Buckeyes will have some hurdles to overcome. Grady and Daniels’ returns are eagerly awaited, but for now, Ohio State will make due with the players they have available and healthy.
