Ohio State makes top schools for top-150 WR

Ohio State’s reputation as WRU only continues to grow.

With the New Orleans Saints re-signing Chris Olave on a 4-year, $132 million deal, former Buckeyes wide receivers have now earned more than $527 million in contracts in just the last two years alone, on top of having a first round wideout taken in the first round of the last five NFL Drafts — with another one on the way in 2027.

While Brian Hartline has moved on, there doesn’t appear to be any letting up at the position for Ohio State in the near future.

New position coach Cortez Hankton still owns a stacked room, with Jeremiah Smith obviously leading the way alongside Chris Henry Jr. and Brandon Inniss, transfers Kyle Parker and Devin McCuin and exciting freshmen Brock Boyd and Jerquaden Guilford. That’s not to mention five-stars Jamier Brown and Jett Harrison committed in the next two recruiting classes.

As such, the program’s reputation as a wide receiver factory will continue to live on beyond Hartline, and prospects are keeping Ohio State at the forefront of their mind as a result.

One of those guys is four-star 2028 wideout Hayden Koo, who listed the Buckeyes among his top 12 schools over the weekend alongside Michigan, Oregon, USC, Washington and others.

Koo ranks as the No. 21 WR in the country and the No. 147 player nationally per 247Sports’ rankings, hailing as the top pass-catcher out of his home state of California. The 6-foot-1, 170-pound receiver is coming off a big sophomore campaign, catching 53 passes for 796 yards and seven touchdowns at Tustin High School.

Ohio State offered Koo earlier this June after he dominated one of the first recruiting camps of the summer, getting in ahead of offers from both Michigan and in-state USC.

“This offer is very special,” Koo told Greg Biggins of Rivals. “A lot of people will consider them WRU. In my opinion, the top three would be Ohio State, LSU, and SC. It was huge with what they show in the draft, and just the receivers that they have.”

Ohio State currently has three players committed in its 2028 class, led by the aforementioned Harrison, the younger brother of Marvin Harrison Jr. The Buckeyes also hold commitments from four-star defensive end Jameer Whyce and four-star RB Elijah Newman-Hall. All three guys are top-80 national players.
