There appears to be hope that the Oklahoma Sooners will have star defensive tackle David Stone on the field when they face off against the No. 2-ranked Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday at Sanford Stadium in Athens.
“Oklahoma star defensive lineman David Stone, who suffered a knee injury during practice Monday, is listed as questionable for Saturday’s game against Georgia, per the SEC availability report,” Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports shared via a social media post on X (formerly Twitter).
Stone injured his knee during a practice on Monday, putting his availability for the huge game against the Bulldogs on the road in jeopardy. But the latest update on the junior can be a source of optimism for the Sooners, who are looking to send a loud message in their first game in SEC play.

Stone has been among the key reasons behind the Sooners defense’s strong start to the 2026 college football season. Over the team’s first three games, Stone has recorded a total of 12 combined tackles to go along with 2.0 sackles for loss and 0.5 sacks. As a team, the Sooners have allowed just 7.7 points per game, thus far, the best mark among SEC schools.
But Oklahoma football is about to get a big test in the Georgia game, and the possibility of missing Stone dampens the Sooners’ outlook for that contest.
In their most recent outing, Stone and the Sooners defeated the New Mexico Lobos, 14-6, at Memorial Stadium in Norman on Sept. 19, to bounce back from a 17-10 loss in Ann Arbor at the hands of the Michigan Wolverines on Sept. 12.
